The change in flowering time might be due to the unseasonable weather we've been having, if your part of the world has also been experiencing this. My fig trees had lost most of their leaves in preparation for winter dormancy, only for a sudden heatwave here in late March/early April making them sprout new growth like spring had arrived. All my plants are confused. So am I!

I don't grow epis myself but when a growth gets leggy and leans over I carefully insert a stake next to the unruly stem/pbulb and use butterfly clips or plastic coated wire to attach it to the stake. I use multiple clips spaced roughly evenly along the pbulb if the plant is tall. If there's several pbulbs going every which way, I insert multiple stakes evenly spaced along the edge of the pot and use string or rubber bands (inserted via the pot's bottom) to create a "fence" around the pbulbs. I've seen some growers tie a new growth to an old growth to "train" it upright as it grows. Just be careful not to force the pbulb - new growths are more flexible than mature growths. If it really doesn't want to move it's better to leave it alone.

I put all of my epidendrums in hanging pots or else on plant stands so that they can droop over. There is no way I could prop up all of the stems. Mine bloom pretty much all year (slightly more in the spring & summer), and I just got some new ones last week - one has all yellow flowers and one has all red flowers. The old ones have orange and yellow flowers, and I've wanted purple but have not seen them lately.

Yours will do well planted outdoors. They like sun. I'd for you morning sun is best. Bright shade the rest of the day. Find some old mulch partially broken down or something similar. Take your pot and bury into the lip in the old mulch. Get some 4' sticks that you can surround the pot with 4 sticks. A metal stick might last longer. Get 18 gauge single strand insulated wire, green if possible. tie wires on the sticks for them to lean on. You could add lava rock or gravel with the old mulch. Water every day.

If you don't want to plant them outside, get a hanging basket with long wires that will hold your pot.

I have only the roof and a couple of terraces, no ground for them. I’ll be moving end of August so I’ll just let it be until then. I’ll take a photo soon.
