What color are cabinets? Could we see a pic of kitchen? Lighting and layout may impact opinions.

@luvfog: I plan on painting the cabinets white and adding hardware (may need to start a new thread to figure out which white to go with). Here are some pics. Plan on switching out the lights, stove stop and oven, and eventually the fridge. Dishwasher is new and good condition so likely we will stay with the stainless steel look on the new appliances.

@Maureen: I love marble and actually was looking at a herringbone cut but was afraid to mix real marble with this marble look alike quartz. Also, being it’s a kitchen I thought marble is more porous and could yellow overtime, but I have no idea could be off in my thinking.

You could bring home samples and place next to your counter to see if you like the pattern. In regards to the marble, a tile person could advise the pro's and con's and may be able to offer another type stone. Good luck..big decision.

Can you wait until the counter is in and cabinets are done before picking a backsplash?

The tiles you have are a pretty color but are bit small and busy.

Ask your tile shop to show you some new styles. The pencil styles are past their peak in some areas already.
