Where do you live? Crabgrass is not dark green, and it doesn't germinate until the nights are warm. Can you get a close up shot of the dark green grass?

Thanks Tom. I think we will go with the fescue because it's what we have in our back yard, and I only have 1 lawn mower.

Its a tough call........I like short cut Bermuda , but its high maint. and I understand most people would rather have something requiring less maint. Tall fescue is always leafy green without a lot of fuss.

Seeding tall fescue now will not work. Yes, it will come up but will die in the heat of summer because the root system hasn't had time to establish. Anywhere that has summer temps in the upper 80's will have this problem.

In my experience bermuda is extremely hard to kill. Multiple rounds of glyphosate will be required over a period of at least a month if not more and even then you will likely have spots come back next year. To add to that, your bermuda is just starting to come out of dormancy. For most any herbicide to work it must be sprayed on a plant that is green and growing. If it were me, I would nuke the fescue now and spend the next couple months researching before making a decision.

Agree.......it is a bit of a gamble seeding now. Maybe just go with what you have thru the summer, and spray it all with Round up late summer, in preparation for fall seeding. Get the Bermuda nice and lush by fertilizing and watering heavily, and then hit it with Round up. Also check with OSU turf dept. publications, on when to seed in the fall, and what varieties of Tall fescue they recommend. There are many new ones on the market, many have improved heat tolerance , and disease resistance. Any Bermuda that returns next spring, can be controlled with the Bayer advanced.
