The pillars are nicely scaled to the house size. If smaller chairs fit the people who will use them, you can switch these out. They do look comfortable.

the builder had the idea to paint them I originally had a grey color picked that the board & battan and pillars were supposed to be but the board & batten siding color was discontinued so I had to pick a different color and the beige was what the builder offered, not my favorite

You need to color match and paint the pillars and the triangle the same as the siding.

7’ is the issue. That’s not meant to be a porch that is actually used. You need a minimum of 10’ of depth for that.

From a distance it looks like the columns are appropriately sized- however- from the porch they look like large obstructions that take up a lot of space. I wouldn't get smaller chairs as they would look kind of dinky. Just paint the columns as advised and embrace this as a porch for 2 to sit a spell.

Add some throw pillow to the chairs, too.

I agree with other commenters--the pillars (and chairs) look just fine & appropriately-sized IF they are painted the same grey as the gable above your garage. I think the porch would be a knockout if you could finish & stain the concrete, too!

I disagree with Sophie. My porch is approximately the same size, perhaps just a bit longer; although, my posts are smaller. My porch is used every day when the weather is good, and we have a large deck in the back. A porch doesn't need to be 10 feet wide!

Thank you everyone for your advice. we will for sure paint the pillars and gable. my husband would like to do cedar pillars above stone what are your thoughts on that would it look good or should we keep them painted?

Keep them painted so that they match the house and don't stand out.

This is one of those situations where you may never sit there...so a nice decorative bench that doesn’t obstruct the view of the window might be better....if you find you never sit there it is a handy place to sit things as you open the door or for a flower pot or two....

Why not try removing the wrap material around the support post.....and see what is under there?....the detail on the wrap and dual color detail add to emphasize the bulky look of the the post supports ...then a simpler narrower wrap can reduce the size for a smaller visual

And Sophie is right 10’ is the right width for a real porch...anything less does not leave enough space for passing thru....legs sticking out...two people to pass each other...etc....etc...
