Entry Flooring Hall

Need help with an odd shaped foyer.

Hi y'all!

We just bought a townhouse which opens to a 5 ft by 9 ft foyer. The foyer wall is open to a loft. I purchased a 2.5 by 9 ft runner which looks great however the door is offset from the stairs.

Should I buy a 3x5 to place in front of the door or buy a wider runner? I do plan to add a bench or show storage next to the stairs

As pretty as that runner is, I suggest you don't use it in this space. Even if you do get a wider one, it will only draw attention to the fact that the stairs and door aren't aligned. Instead, put a mat at the door.

I agree with Rachel - maybe even matching rugs in front of the door and the stairs, but definitely not a runner.

It looks like you have room for a bench with shoe storage underneath - that way you don't have to sit on the steps to put your shoes on.

I suggest two smaller matching rugs or coordinating rugs. The runner draws attention to the offset door and stairs.
