Splashback help!!

We are trying to work with an old kitchen we inherited. Any suggestion for the colour or type of splashback behind the cooker wall between the units to help tie the space together?

you can play with greys and use white tyles for your small areas (wall) that will be easy for cleaning, grey colours will help you to give a modern touch with some cosy look.

Thank for your suggestion. I've got a dark worktop and floor which is why I was concerned about using grey wall tiles too. Perhaps, white could work instead.

you can use light grey and to reforce the lighting you can play with some task lighting as if showing in the picture, but as far as I can see in your picture your playing with a good base of lightning resources.

Thank you. This could work as we already have under cabinet lights it shouldn't be hard to achieve. I appreciate your suggestions.

Hi there, its a good sized kitchen isn't it. You can choose anything you like.. the worktop is neutral essentially. Changing the doors is a fairly simple process, then it will look like a brand new kitchen. Do you have a favourite colour? A favourite painting/print that you would like to put in to the room? If so, take your inspiration from that, pick out the colour that you like and go from there.. Or keep the kitchen neutral as seems to be the trend at the minute and add colour by painting a wall in a colour that pleases you. It is your kitchen!! Make it work for you. Good Luck.

It's a really large expanse of floor and the kitchen is an odd shape. I think you need an island to break it up. It's a little oddly spaced out. Maybe one of the ones on castors, so that you can move it around to suit.

I think grey too........I would however swap the hob for a stainless steel one to match the oven and Fridge Freezer and spray paint the other white appliance, to try to tie it all together.
Is there any chance for a little shuffle of units?

I would go for a light grey or white in underground style tiling like the images suggested above.

Thanks Handyman. I like your suggestion but I have nowhere to put the fridge. I have recently both a large American double door one (not pictured). Beside the largest cupboards, the boiler is there by the external door leading onto the garden.

Perhaps white glossy tiles or another neutral colour would be a nice contrast to the colour of the cabinets and the dark floor?

Hi, I like the idea of an island, this will give the kitchen a focal point as well as being incredibly practical with extra work space, somewhere for those hot pans to go from the oven. The extractor/pipe above the line of wall units needs to be hidden, a new hood to hide this is essential, think about re decorating the units in a colour that you like, light enough to contrast with the worktop - shown in the image above from PWJ Architects though in reverse. (for your Kitchen would be Dark worktop and white units). Then that 'pop' of colour for the splash back in glass really stands out. Good Luck!
