Newbie here, need help with foundation plants!

Hello all,

Zone 6a and have an overabundance of deer. We would like to redo our landscaping and I was looking for simple ideas. The corner tree is planted too close to the house and will hit the window, so I'm begrudgingly replacing it. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated! thank you

Don't replace that pretty tree, just relocate it to a more appropriate spot in the yard!

You could prune it/thin it also. I've seen worse foundation planting sins.

Oh, you were talking about the one on the LEFT. I was thinking of the tree/shrub on the right corner. Not sure what that is. If the tree is something big, some day you may live to regret that placement. Will not be easy to move though. What kind of tree is it?

The dogwood tree is ok. The bush in the corner, I'm not sure what the name is, is really close to the house. We have already thinned the back of it and it's hitting our new window when it gets windy. It turns a beautiful red in the fall, that's why I'm sad to get rid of it. Thank you so much for the suggestions, I'm going to brainstorm this week for ideas

The big shrub on the right is a Burning Bush (Euonymous elatus).

You can hard prune a burning bush in early spring, then in the fall, you could dig it out. If it's been there for years, it may not survive trying to dig it out and relocate it out into the yard where it has room. It's too big for this location, you would always have to prune it back in the fall. Do you have a friend or relation who is an experienced gardener to help you with this?

Burning bush easily replaced, they are dime a dozen. It is dang hard to kill. Ask me how I know. Replace with something less invasive. I am lovin' up coral berry, and chokeberry, which are deer resistant so far. Also fothergilla and blueberries have the red fall leaves but watch out for the deer with the fothergilla.

That coral berry and chokeberry are really pretty, pinkmountain! I do have my mom that has a green thumb and my husband is really handy, so he can try to transplant the bush. We lived in apartments, so this is my first yard to tend to and learn from.

And dig doug, marvelous job with that mock setup! I am loving the ideas from it, I'll be lying if I didn't say I wanted a visual from you to help me start out on this endeavor!
