Perfecting my color scheme

I'm working on my color scheme for the new house. I have my kitchen cabinets painted Titanium by Behr. The kitchen is open to the dining and living room and I'm trying to decide what color to pain the walls. I want to stick with a neutral palate, have the kitchen stand out, but don't want white or cream colored walls. Any thoughts? See attached photos, the living room photo is a true depiction of the floor color.

ok got it but if you could post the color; titanium, it would be easier for us so we don't all have to look it up.

ok I looked it up. See Thunder or Horizon Gray on the swatches surrounding Titanium? Do you like them?

The store will have suggested color combination cards. I can see them online. Make a quick to a Behr dealer and pick up a few.

I found a color just a shade lighter than titanium. (It’s a BM color because that’s the actual paint I’m going with). BM’s stonington gray is spot on with Behr titanium, BM wickham gray is a shade lighter and I think will go well together.

Another question for you all, which dark color do you like better? I will be painting our interior doors a dark shade with polished chrome hardware.

The darker color is BM Wrought iron.

To my mind, splitting hairs between stonington gray and wickham gray so there is no decision there.

Do you want your eye to go to the interior doors? Why are making the interior doors so dark and therefore dramatic? The eye will be drawn to them and not your furniture/interior decor. Is that what your goal is?

Visualizemaven, yes, I want to attract attention to the doors. All our furnishings are neutral so I wanted a pop. We have 3 sets of patio doors which will receive a light stain with black hardware. The interior doors will be opposite, dark paint and brilliant chrome hardware.

Those two colors Stonington and Wickham look kind of blue next to the Titanium?

i like the darker one, almost black, for the doors. so the cabs are gray, and you don't want white or cream walls. do you want another gray? blue? sage green?

this is Pale Oak (btw, do not attempt to color match BM colors. you will never get the same color)

this would work w/your floors, the marble, the black. best you can do is grab samples and start painting the walls. your light will alter anything you choose.

I actually love this color and it would work w/your titanium. it's BM Raindrops on roses, and actually is more gray when it's on the wall. don't let the pink fool you.

see? instead of another gloomy gray room, at least get one with a bit of a lavender undertone. it might surprise you. grab a sample.

Beth H, thank you! After I put a sample of the wickham gray on the walls it looked like a sea foam green; not what I’m going for. I like all of your suggestions. My cabinets are being installed Wednesday morning so that’ll make the color choice much easier. We begin paint next weekend so I hope I can have a firm decision by then.
