Can you tell me about the wood- what kind and did you stain it? Interested to do on a deck.

Ali, this is actually a burnt wood called shou sugi ban. It is a Japanese technique that preserves and seals the wood without needing any further maintenance. I’m not sure it is recommended to be used as decking. We bought it from an Austin supplier - Delta Mill Works!
