Definitely do not get marble. I have it in my bathroom as floor tile and cannot wait to redo this project if nothing else to replace that floor. I have a white/gray marble tile that has stained yellow and it cannot be cleaned. There are so many scratches that it doesn't even have a shine anymore (in the spots that haven't stained anyways). Lol.

I have marble on my floor. it is finicky but I love the look. if you are messy people and don't like upkeep, then get a porcelain tile that resembles marble. if you want realistic looking knock off, you'll have to spend the money. nothing looks worse than cheap, marble-look-a-likes.

you don't have to have marble. you could do glass or porcelain or tons of other products. "Spa Atmosphere" is the catch-all phrase of this decade. what exactly does it mean to you? any pictures of the type of bathroom you'd like to replicate? How big is the room? what is the budget? All of things make a lot of difference in what you want and what you can have.

All of these are SpaAtmosphere bathrooms. All are quite different and can be done without real marble. what style did you have in mind?

There are many porcelain tiles out there that are really great looking. If you are trying to "match" a cararra marble for instance, you will be disappointed. Go and look at tiles for what they are; don't try to find ones that "look like".

The best thing to do is get yourself into a tile store and ask to look at tiles that are not natural stone.... then see what strikes you...
