Don’t be scared of 511. I have all my trees in it. Yes, the water runs through it, but that’s ok. If you bare rooted, I’d give them a week in the shade, then transition them either by moving them into an area with dappled light, or by moving them into the sun for a few hours each day and increasing the time. Don’t fret too much, they’ll be fine!

Indoors I was watering with the pot standing in a basin and allowing it to sit for a few minutes to dampen the bottom half of soil in pot, then pulling the pot out and it would all drain out then standing the pot on a brick above the water in the basin for added humidity, don't know if thats a good practice or not. I have the pots sitting on top of upside down basins outside now and haven't watered yet due to rain here. I just can't deal....their in full afternoon sun

Laura I am so nervous! But I switched to 511 because growers like you have had such success with it, in similar conditions to my own. I know we discussed watering in summer because a few of us were concerned about it drying out so quickly. I wanted to ask you how often you water indoors over the winter. You must have drip trays under all of your pots because so far mine drop forever after watering.

I watered yesterday by placing each one in a tub of rain water for 10 - 15 mins, I let them drain for about an hour afterwards and this morning, there were still puddles of water under some on the pots. I wanted to get them good and wet, since it's going to be in the 80s here the next few days and I don't know how quickly they'll dry out. I thought 511 would make wintering easy, but I think it's still going to be just as much work...I really need to win the lottery, so I can build my dream greenhouse.

Alanna, when you repot and put your new soil in about halfway, next dome it towards the center, insert the tree, try to spread the rootball to confirm to the dome, watered, then continue to fill the container.
