That's interesting that OSH is owned by Lowes. We had an OSH that was very close to Lowes and it went out of business. Poor location planning I think.

I like OSH due to the fact that the store in my area is much smaller than either HD or Lowe’s & they have a good selection of quirky ( for lack of a better word ) household items. Customer service seems much better ....

I agree, K Laurence. They have quite a bit of household items, sometimes HD does not have. Easier in and out, lots of people to direct customers.

I do. I got a great buy on a big Trichocereus tersheckii last year there- half off of what was already much less then a specialty nursery would have asked.

But,you can't buy what they don't carry..so I just make it part of the rounds of all my local nursery's- flea markets.

It might be boring if what I wanted I knew beforehand all the time..like EBAY orders. Local stores also show you the real thing.

I used to shop there when I had a pond in my back yard (in Venice) because they had a good selection of pumps and filters. I do not have a pond in Westchester - only a couple of fountains, and I've bought fountain pumps at HD. OSH is not much further from me, and there is a Home Depot one mile from my house now.

I used to, until Lowes bought OSH and closed the OSH across the street from Lowes. It was the only place I could find good steel screws and bolts etc. They carried a good plant pot selection also. I need more of the same stain for my redwood gate after a couple years and had to go to an OSH on way home from work.
