The Box.............

You know that moment when the box arrives and you are giddy with excitement? You are so giddy that you have no intentions of making dinner. You read all the notes and study the tags trying to remember what you ordered. You soak the little darlings and lay out the pots. In your best handwriting you make the tags with the names of the plants, the date of potting, and the name of the seller you received them from. To top it off, there is a surprise cutting in the mix, and it is one that you don't already have. Your husband and teenage daughter shake their heads because they have no idea what you are so excited about. Yep, it was one of those great nights! Thanks, Ric for the great cuttings! And thanks, fellow hoya lovers for understanding the excitement of THE BOX!

I got "The Box" yesterday from beastlyflowers2012 :-D

Karen, ricnfl and cowboyflowerman are two different sellers. I buy from both and have been very pleased. Ric has a great selection on ebay and almost always gifts an extra cutting!

Ricfl is awesome :) i got my minibelle from him and it came with a cutting of Genieve that i am trying to do right by -fingerscrossed- but i would definantly buy from him again :)

I got my box from Thailand yesterday!!! I was biting my fingernails watching tracking and customs.... 6 days, not too shabby! Everything has been soaked and I'm going to trellis them all nice today and tomorrow. SOOOOOOOO ecstatic. I also got another cutting from Ric yesterday too, with Hoya sp. Ns05-055! :) That's so awesome that he gave you a Genieve, Staci! She does so well for me!

So glad we’re all on the same page. HAHA! :)

Im new to Genieve so im terrified of killing it

    Punkgirl does this look good?

That's a nice big leaf... Just don't over saturate the soil and you'll be okay. :) Ric's cuttings are always very strong and easy to root for me. Good luck!

They look very healthy too! Congrats to you and everyone with "The Box" coming their way!!

I ordered from Thailand last summer via Aurora. That was fun too! Ric had offered free shipping if you bought 5 plants. That's kind of why I splurged. Plus everyone's beautiful spring blooms pushed me over the edge.

I went a little crazy when Ric did the free shipping deal too! So funny. I almost like his freebies more than the cuttings I choose! HA! But really, they’re ALL awesome. What did you grab from him, Carolyn? If you don’t mind me asking?

    I got the following:

    Incrassatta Moonshadow

Mathilde (I already have this one but someone on the forum said mine looks more like a a chouke)

    Liggia

    Blashernaezii IML 1631

    Parasitica vareigated

    Erythrostemma

I felt a little guilty that he threw in a freebie when he was already offering free shipping. Plus the parasitica is decent sized plant in a 2 in pot so that weighed more. Great guy! I would definitely order from him again. I feel spoiled. I have been happy with all the vendors I have used.

Now that you have another Mathilde, does it look different from the one you already had? I dont have chouke yet but im considering it since mathilde is such an easy grower for me.

So, to answer your question isn't that easy. I have 3 plants all sold as Mathilde.

This one is from Gardino's, but someone on the forum says it is really a chouke:

This one is a Mathilde Silver from AH Hoya in Thailand. Notice the silver leaves:

And this one is from Ric:

When I put the Gardino's one next to Ric's, they do look different:

Since I love all three of them, I don't really care. LOL

I have one from gardinos and one from ric. They look the same to me. Ill post a pic tomorrow...loving that silver mathilde!!!!

I acquired my Mathilde sold as serpens.... but I didn’t care because she’s soooo cute! I think she looks the most like Ric’s? Your silver is amazing!!!

Actually it looks more like the one from Gardinos. The leaves look dark and glossy. My one from Gardinos definitely looks more like the dark glossy green of a carnosa with some flecks of white. Yours is CUTE! The ones from Ric and Thailand have a woodier (if there is such a word) stalk at the base. The one from Gardinos seems to have a greener, less woody stem, again, more like a carnosa.

Here is my little serpens. Her leaves are fuzzy. She even had a couple penducles, but she dropped one yesterday. Sadness...
