Help - Should I change the tiles?
Comments (4)Well, I always prefer hardwood floors to tile in a living room/dining room area (kitchen too, for that matter), so my vote would be for the hardwood. The tiles are very neutral, but look a bit pink in tone (is that correct?), and they will look even more so against the white. But that is a large and expensive job, and the tiles are in good condition, so it is really a question of budget. I do think, however, that your beautiful fireplace mantel would really stand out with a wood floor and area rug in front of it....See MorePlease help!! Should I change the mortar color?

Comments (9)Hello, You may consider going with your wall color and rug in the lighter shade of whitish gray (as that of the color displayed in the pattern of your arm chair). This color will brighten up the room as it (according to your photo) appears rather dark. I'm not certain as to the direction of the sun or the true color of your window treatment which also needs to be given consideration. Ensure whatever gray you choose will harmonize with the gray of your new sofa, arm chair and flooring as gray can be tricky. Gray comes in warm (has more brown/black in it) and cool (has more blue/white in it). Strive to avoid an "overplay" in gray as it's already in your flooring, new sofa and chair. Pull out other colors in the pattern of your armchair and tile (i.g. beige) for accents in your overall decor and try to closely match the gray! Comments (7)What about something like this? Is that gable all the siding? With it being such a small portion, you could even switch it out for some shakes painted the same color as the bricks. We did that on our older ranch (did not paint the brick, though, wasn't in the budget ; ) ), and it made such a difference! The photo Brickwood Builders, Inc. posted is really nice, too!...See MoreJohnson Flooring Co Inc
