Help- Which pool plaster color?

We are going to be finishing a pool in Hydrazzo plaster and are trying to decide if we should go with Mediterranean blue or French Gray. We have a wooded yard and are hoping to avoid a pool that is too dark or green. We also like the look of a medium to deep blue. Thanks !

I think that the French grey is very dark, I would stick to the Mediterranean Blue.

I agree French Grey is dark and I think blue tends to be a more inviting color for a pool so I would definitely go with Mediterranean Blue.

I definitely don't want a community pool color. I liked the french gray in some of the photos I have seen but in others it looked dark. Have you used other hydrazzo colors that would give us the blue but not look like a swamp in the shade?

What color did you choose? I am also thinking about French Grey. I'm wondering if Hatteras Gray has any green in it? I want a tinge of green to make it look a bit like turquoise. Would love to get Mystic Pools opinion too. Thanks!

Hatteras Gray does not have any green hues. The coloring is mostly blue. In the shade, it has a deeper shade of blue.

You could call CLI, who make Hydrazzo, and ask them about blending another of their standard colors to create the green your looking for.

Jamaican Mist is a standard color which appears to have some green. You would have to look at the actual sample to make a determination.

Their other line of plaster Krystalkrete, has some colors that require a blend of several colors for a particular result. So the possibility to blend Hydrazzo colors, is an option.

They can create special order colors as well.

That's a really good idea. I appreciate your advice. Thanks for responding to an old thread too- I'm grateful.

@blondechica - what color did you end up with? Would love to see!

Believe it or not, our terrible pool builder hasn't finished yet and we don't have our Hydrazzo installed! I will post in month or so. We chose Hatteras Grey since our backyard is dark. Remind me to post!

Were you able to see pools in Hatteras and the French Grey?

Wow, it really ranges from pale to deeper colors. The 3rd photo is my ideal - the first two are very light. I think I prefer the French but I haven't seen it in person. I only have samples for PebbleSheen and FIna, and I've seen teh PebbleSheen French Grey in person and it was pretty light still - the French Grey Hydrazzo seemed more on par with the Steel Grey Pebble Fina from what I can tell from online photos, but I'm not sure. And I can't figure out what that means in Pebble Sheen. And now some folks are pushing Aquabright. I'm very confused!

@Mystic Pools, LLC im debating the same two colors and your comment about Med Blue reminding of a community pool is driving me nuts! I originally did want the Hatteras Gray but ive seen some photos were the pool looked so blase with zero character which led me to Med Blue. I know this was posted a while back but could you offer updated opinion on whether you are seeing more Hatteras Gray or Med Blue pools now and if your comment still stands about Med Blue looking liek community pool? I greatly aprpeciate any udpate!

I looked back at my previous posts.

It was actually the Pacific Blue that looked like a painted community pool.

The Mediterranean Blue is still available. It's more towards a blueish light gray. Never used it but I would say it would look nice, Of course, this all my opinion.

The Krystal Krete color Tahoe Blue is very similar to Pacific Blue.

I still don't like this color for the same reasons.

Hatteras is still a popular choice.

I'll reiterate what I have said on this thread or others similar on Houzz.

Ask your PB to show you finished pools with the color choice(s) you prefer. Seeing it in person in various lighting and shade conditions will help you make a choice.

Same for tile and coping choices. Natural lighting best represents the products.

If you are in the south and your area has gators ... stick to light colored pool finishes.

Not my pool, but one of the reasons I went with a very light pool color (PebbleTec White Pearl) in FL.
