Kitchen lighting problem

It may not be obvious from these photos, but because of the position of the ceiling joists, it's not possible to put the planned can light over the sink. It's about a half inch or so off center. The only way to get the light centered exactly is to use a pendant light. We will have two pendant lights over the peninsula

and I'm wondering if this might be overkill. Which would ya'll go with, the slightly off-center can light, or the pendant light? The last pic is to give an idea of the layout - the windows aren't accurate.

If you are going to have recessed lights throughout the kitchen, you may not need a light above the sink.

The space looks a little small to me to have pendant lights in both areas. I would stick with the slightly off center can light, personally. You could also consider track lighting or a linear pendant light if you think having it off center will bug you. Most people won't notice unless you point it out.

Do a flush mount or close to ceiling mount light and you can cover the off center hole with the light and center the light over the sink.

Hi,

I had a similar issue with not being able to center the can so we ended up putting in 2 cans. I have cabinets flanking a 5’ wide bumped out window so they are spaced evenly within that space. Also I used 4” cans (in the entire kitchen actually).

Looks like it’s only one light above the sink. I would divide the space into thirds and place two can lights instead of the one centered.

There are actually three cans - the other two are set farther back and the other one is directly over the sink so there's really no room for more cans. I hadn't thought of mounting a light on the wall though - that may be the solution. Thanks!
