Started these peas for the second time around and have this mysterious infection. This was the second time since the first round was killed by the same problem. I assumed that the problem was mold so I disinfected the coco coir discs and the new seeds in 1:10 5% hydrogen peroxide:water solution for 30 minutes. This didn't seem to help however since they ended up just like the first round.

Additionally, I started 5 trays of varying pepper cultivars. While the older seeds succumbed to a similar affliction, the ones that survived and did well had very little incidence of this problem. The freshest pepper seeds achieved a very high germination rate, and maybe 1 or 2 out of the 15 sites showed signs of this infection.

Finally, the infectious powder seems to have a hydrophobic property that manifests itself most notably when splashing it with water. In low densities, it causes the powder to fly into the air and at higher densities water beads and flows to the sides very quickly. When submersed, it doesn't seem to be affected. In other words, it seems impossible to get wet.
