Kitchen Backsplash - HELP!

I am driving myself crazy on the back splash. I was thinking of doing the traditional white subway tile since the countertops are kind of busy (they are blue/white quartzite). Originally I thought a blue sub tile but am now thinking that might clash. The island cabinets are a light shade of blue with an ash wood top. There will be under counter LED tape lighting.

Can/ should I do an accent above the stove or would that be too busy? I like the arabesque tiles but not sure if they match the subway look. What about grout color? Any thoughts are greatly appreciated. Here are some pics (please ignore all the paint colors, the whole room will be redone!)

Your stone is beautiful!! You need to let it be the star! I think all of the blue tiles are too dark. Do not use an accent tile, or the minibrick. If you go with blue I would go with a light blue from your stone. I do like the white tiles, but I think #1 is too busy. #2 could work if you went with matching grout as well. I would personally stick with a white subway or white pattern. You already have so many elements going on here, the colored stone, the butcher block, the blue island, the hood. The backsplash needs to blend into the background.

I love the moroccan tile without the pattern. I would do that tile with white grout. I wouldn’t do an accent tile around the range hood. Just take the tile all the way to the ceiling. Your kitchen is beautiful.

Of all of those, I think the white subway is the best color and shape for the space. Another option would be a glass subway in the icy blue of the countertop and lighter in color than the blue ones shown.

I like white - I think anything blue you would be worried it would either match too well or not be exact. Your counters (pretty by the way) are their own showcase piece. Of those accents I like accent #2. Good luck! Deciding is the worst! I have ordered hundreds of dollars in samples and still have no idea what I'm doing for backsplash, I think it is the hardest decision so far! I keep telling my husband, yes, subway tile is boring and safe, but at least we won't regret it.

This is a conundrum. Think of your design like this, 'you like those earrings but it doesn't match the outfit at all.' The backsplash's job is to pull the design together. Choose a simple, yet tasteful tile for the main portion and then get a little fancy, yet complementary behind the stove.

The Moroccan tile without the pattern or a white subway might be best. Keeping it clean and simple would probably work well since the countertop is so busy.
