Need help with dining area setup

We have just moved into a new house and not able to figure out what type of dining table (rectangle or Oval, dark or light wood) would look good here. We have big rectangular kitchen island adjacent(/perpendicular) to the dining area. Flooring and cabinets are dark colored (mid century walnut and Brandy Chestnut Java)
Dining area measures : 9' X 10' . Any suggestion/ideas appreciated.

We are just 2 of us but we entertain a lot. I'm looking for a table that can accommodate 4-6 people. Here is some more pictures from kitchen area.
