To what purpose? Bone meal only provides calcium and phosphorus, two essential plant nutrients that are typically in plentiful supply in any non-agricultural soils. Notions that it will encourage root development tend to be grossly overstated and it also attracts scavengers like raccoons, possums, skunks, not to mention cats and dogs, due to the odor.

Plus it takes months to provide any benefits to the plants. If you really think you need it or a soil test shows the need then plan on a Fall addition.

Please suppress the need to use "magic ingredients", which are soil amendments or fertilizers you don't know that you need, but sound nutritious, horticulturally fancy, and or wildly economical. Lots of that going around.
