Fred Meyer near here has ones generally like this labeled 'Palibin'.

Well, the only local nursery that carries both 'Palibin' and 'Bloomerang' wasn't a lot of help. Honestly the two look too similar for me to tell apart. When I asked them how they can tell those two apart, the answer was 'well, we look at the tag' ..

Is my best bet to wait for later in the year and see what the rebloom is like? It will be years before I can tell based on size.

Not really dark enough for the Bloomerang Purple that has so far been the most prevalent of introductions in that series that we have been offered here.

Well, I may never know. I came home today to find that something burrowed right down into the ground at the center of the shrub, breaking off every branch at ground level and tearing up some of the roots.

Damn.
