3 gallon little bluestem large enough to divide?

I found a local nursery that has a little blue stem cultivar (Carousel) I think would be perfect for what I want to do, but only in 3 gallon size. I want to plant 18-20 of them, but I dont like the idea of digging that many 3 gallon holes. Is a 3 gallon plant large enough to divide? Divide into 2 or 3 or 4? I've never divided anything other than an old houseplant before. Thanks
