Abandoned robin eggs

A robin built a nest on the transom ledge over my front door and laid eggs in it. I counted two, looking through the transom glass when the bird wasn’t home, but there may be more. I haven’t seen the bird in two days, and when I went out to check the mail today I found a broken egg shell on the porch floor.

I guess I can assume she’s not coming back. Should I take the nest down and dispose of it? Wait a while?
