Thoughts on window quote?

I received 4 quotes but the Anderson 400 are not in my budget. Of the 3 how would you rate them?

40 windows total - the house is mainly 1 room deep - coastal NC. House is 2x6 framing - upgraded to R21 in the walls and spray foam in the attic.

Anderson 100 will be an option come July. FYI the Jeld Wen is the window the builder recommends.

Paradigm with stainless hardware $12,000 - no local dealer - order from dealer in VA

Jeld Wen builder window with stainless hardware $13,000 - local lumbar yard

Sunrise $19,000 with corrosion resistant - stainless not available - local dealer though does not return calls

Anderson 400 with stainless $28,000 - local lumbar yard

Anderson 100 will be available in the summer.

The quotes wont mean much without details behind them. What type of windows (casement or dh)? What model windows for Sunrise, Paradigm, or Jeldwen? What type of glass and gas fill? What are the nfrc ratings? Where are you located? Is this price installed or just the windows?

of the windows you mentioned, Sunrise would be recommended more often, followed ny the Anderson’s. Some of these are vinyl only so my assumptions are that you dont necessarily care about wood vs vinyl interiors?

Builder might be a great guy and a great builder, but the simple fact is that most are not a wealth of information on the window fronts as they are done with any obligation on the project after about year 1.

We do need some more details in this case to give you some more directed feedback.

The best window of that group are definitely the sunrise. The fact that it is corrosion resistant means it will withstand the coastal climate.

Jeldwin would be at the bottom and the mere fact that your builder is recommending that brand tells me he knows absolutely nothing about quality, which is very typical of builders since they are more focused on using cheap products to increase margins.

07Cooper, if you are open to sourcing your windows from VA, it wouldn't hurt to check in with Windows on Washington. They offer a few excellent window lines that would compare favorably to what you've seen.

Out of the list that you have I also prefer the Sunrise, but poor responsiveness up front when a company has yet to earn your business is not a good sign of things to come with that vendor.

The following is what I have for specs. A mixture of casement, fixed and awning windows.

It is hard to compare pricing because the Sunrise dealer was notified of some changes (fixed windows where casement are shown and 2 extra windows added) but did not update his quote.

    sunrise - 38 windows - omega 12 glass, u0.26, shgc 0.19

    jeld wen - 40 windows - u0.30, shgc 0.23, low e366, dp50

paradigm - the price was included on one of the proposals I received - no specs given

There is a Sunrise dealer 2 hours away but that company and the local dealer specialize in replacement windows, not new construction and that may be the reluctance in returning my calls, as they will only be placing the order not installing the product.

Jeld wen, Viwinco and Anderson are the windows found locally at the lumbar yards.
