Thank you for contacting iSpring. On the RCC1UP-AK, and our other systems with the UV filter, microorganisms, viruses, and bacteria will be killed. These are not present in everyone's water source, and if you've not had your water tested, may not be present in yours; some people do have these contaminants in their water and therefore know they need to eliminate it. That being said, some customers like the reassurance of this filter to take care of those contaminants in the instance they may not be detected in a water sample, may not occur regularly, or just to feel safe from them.

I'd like to ask if you are considering this model with the booster pump because you know your incoming water pressure is below 45psi? You would only need a model with a pump in those circumstances. Optimum water pressure for the system to perform is 60-80psi, but if your incoming pressure is meeting 45psi, the booster pump typically will not turn on. This feature of our systems allow folks with lower water pressure to assure the system will (A) operate altogether, as water will flow through the system without the RO filter properly working at any pressure lower than 45psi, and (B) turn on if they know they experience drops in water pressure randomly and can't always expect 45psi.
