What do you recommend for protecting an outdoor TV??

I have a buddy that has an outdoor flat screen, under a covered patio, probably 10' from the open air. He doesn't have it covered or anything, in a region of the country used to extremes in temperature and LOTS of wind - he hasn't had a problem at all for approx 3 years. Admittedly, I probably wouldn't have figured that kind of life span.

So, depending on what your concern is, protection of the TV or simply esthetics, you may not need one. I had one in my garage, in a dusty, windy region, and just covered it with a towel (the vents on the back and the screen) and never had a problem with it.

There are several ways to protect an outdoor TV. Houzz is designed to get opinions from others based on personal experiences.

Although google is a great resource it does NOT provide professional advice all of the time.

I'm not necessarily recommending the "cover with a towel" tactic, but rather speaking to their ability to be outside with little to no protection.

I worked in a 24,000 square foot home last year that had about 40 or so tv's inside and about 10 outside. I know they had a tv shield for them. Found one online called thetvshield.com Hope this helps.

This is beautiful, and I must commend you for a job well done. My suggestion will be to go to Best Buy and ask them what you could use. They have assisted me a lot setting up my home electronics. I think they will likely know what will be best to protect the TV. I hope this help.

If it's a tv that is constructed particularly for out door use - that's obviously a good start ! Common sense would suggest that you have already considered this ?!
What else do you feel you need to protect it from ?!?
Theft ?! As you have now advertised the fact that it's there ?!?

Oh did I say Advertised ... Doh - that's what this is ! Silly me !!! I nearly fell for it !! Lol ! Of course you know what protects an out door tv !
