I like the black one for its more feminine shape in an otherwise very angular room, and for the connection to the floor lamp. I'm not sure about it on the black table though. Does it come in silver/chrome/mercury?

The table seems a bit small for the sofa. It may be difficult to select a lamp that is in scale with both the table and the sofa. How tall is your existing lamp?

I like the black one better, but think you might be better off with something taller. I second the question about how tall your current lamp is--that will provide a point of reference.

@lindsey - It comes in a clay/white but we really liked the black. I'm also not sure how it'd look against a black top.

@Delilah66 - It can get crowded in that corner by the entry closet so we didn't mind the small table. The existing lamp is 27.5" high.

Buy the black one, put it on a stack of books 4-5" high. Now there's contrast between lamp and table, and the lamp is high enough!

Eta: you could also use a short wooden box to raise it.

I’m going to suggest that you wait and shop around. I’ve been on a lamp search for a while myself and can tell you, there are much better options available. Lamps offer the opportunity to add a little personality to a room, I don’t think either of those do that for you.

From my standpoint, you have one lamp next to a sizeable sectional - so scale-wise, something with a bit more heft might balance it out and make more of a statement. I also think the black base might get lost a bit with the black table - and whatever you would gain with the interesting lines on the lamp may get lost in the sauce, so to speak.

It looks tight in that space, so I think I would remove the table and go with a floor lamp. Get a coffee table or martini tables.

Is that the only place you can put the couch? It looks very crowded in that short wall area. Is it possible to float it in the room? I hope you'll buy rugs soon to make this space look cozier. What a great window wall.

The black is too short and what is best about it (curvilinear sculptural element) will mostly be lost in your space.

@ingrid_vc so. CA zone 9 - there's not really another place to put the couch & we like the simple linear flow of the room. Tried to take more pictures to demonstrate the space and lamp to wall ratio.

Your current lamp is about the right height. I wouldn't go any shorter than that. Your other option is to replace the end table with a taller one, but if you do, don't go above the height of the sofa arm.

How about something like this. This would probably nicely match the wooden floor.

There are a lot of lamp options out there. Since neither of the two you posted seem to be the correct height, maybe try to keep looking. You don't want to buy a lamp that you would have to fix just when you buy it by adding height to it.
