With a random placement of canes, I would suggest simply pounding in t-bar stakes near many of the cane clumps and just loosely lasso the canes to the stakes, waist high and then at the stake top as growth continues. If lateral branches get long enough to reach the next clump, use the cane itself as a support. Or you can just limit lateral growth to 3 feet. If you have been allowing the canes to tip-root in the fall and now have a real thicket, some thinning may be necessary.
