Thank you.. I do too!. The color is actually a richer shade of scarlet but my iPad's camera doesn't capture that exactly.

A correction!. It is number 69 on Mr. Ko's website.. Number 27 is my personal reference number to keep track of my numerous seedlings.. Sorry for the confusion.

I actually like it better than the reference photo. Remember seed propagation is not cloning, so variability does occur.

DBarron: A reputable merchant will take a picture of the actual plant being sold and its bloom. What you receive should be exactly what you purchased. Otherwise, they are not reputable. I am not a seller and I can demonstrate the actual bloom for each plant I own.

Well yes and no. A grafted plant /may/ bloom exactly like the photos shown by the seller but keep in mind that temperature and how you feed it, all of the ways you grow it that differ from the original seller will effect how your plant produces it's flowers. So while it's genetically the same cultivar, if your cultivation of that plant varies too far off of the original seller's photo, your flower may in fact not look too much like the photo.

Take for example a very black-purple triple layered flower. If your temperatures are not hot enough, and you don't feed, and your plant is young... you can get a deep red pink flower that may even be a single layer! Because it's too immature, and not been fed enough to have the energy to produce a triple layered bloom. And if your temperatures and sunlight exposure are too low, you won't bring out the rich darker colors.

So it's not really a good idea to make a blanket statement that your grafted plant will be exactly the same appearance as the original photo. There will also be some natural variations in pattern, especially if you are looking at the petal patterns of cultivars like Indigo Glaze - the straited layers may not be there if your plant isn't blooming in peak condition under the right high temperatures and humidity. If you grow such a cultivar under lights in a cool basement for example, your expectations of it blooming exactly like a grower's in Taiwan who grows in high humidity in full sun aren't going to be realistic, if you think you'll get flowers looking exactly the same. That's just basic horticultural common sense.

Some colors are easier to duplicate pretty close to the original growers - but some are not. So it's wise to do your homework and understand that some of the adenium flowers need rather exact requirements to make them replicate the photos we see. And sometimes, as mentioned, if they aren't a reputable seller then their photos may be photoshopped.

Great point, Hyn ... growing culture does affect everything! A plant grown in New York is not going to have the same coloration / vigor as one grown in the tropics.

True, I'm amazed how different some AVs are in summer vs winter, etc. However, I know if I vary my culture I should get what I expect (eventually) (lol).

Dbarron, a good example of how different blooms can be is under "Black Widow". I posted not that long ago. Just about every single bloom was different on my same plant. It's crazy. check that post out.

Yeah, that's pretty different alright (your blooms). Mine is growing fabulously, because it's hot and sweaty here right now. I hope to see blooms before long, and see what mine looks like.
