i dont think a bookcase can work. it would have to be glommed onto the front of the angle (since the angle cant be cut into) and there is a vent of some sort there.

Your original post mentioned wanting to disguise it, but it has the potential to be a fun, quirky feature. I say play it up!

I love the idea of a bookcase and it was my first thought too.

Building on that eclectic, fun aspect of it what about this: put a port hole window in the sloped top of it! Since this is a reading room and it is above a screen porch, I wouldn't imagine privacy is much of a concern for either room. You could make it hinged so that it opens from one room to the other, if that works for your household (no four year old who will throw the cat down, for example). It might really give nice air flow and it would certainly let light flow beautifully from one room to the other.

A more tame idea would be a plant shelf. That could be incorporated into a desk like what mama_goose showed.

A bookshelf only needs to be 8-10" deep. It could hold a collection of paperbacks or kid's books (little golden books, so cute!).

If you used floating shelves you could install so the outlet is in a gap between.
