Don, Moonlight Sonata is mesmerizing- does that colour variation hold all season or does the blue fade? All your hostas are beautiful.

Very nice pictures. I really like Blue Hawaii, I bought it several years ago at Wade and Gatton along with a half dozen other blues--unfortunately I mixed up the tags, I will have to work at identifying them this year.

Thanks, Josephine. My Moonlight Sonata is in quite a bit of sun, so it'll lose its wax for sure (like last season. a heavy downpour will take a lot of wax off her, too.) Still looks great, even when green, though. Beautiful form (in my opinion.)

Man I really need to take some pictures! Yours look great. As long as we avoid the hail (insert my new anti-hail signal here), things are really bursting here! I swear things appear bigger this year.

Don your hostas are stunning. Can I ask about your rock mulch? I see a lot of people recommending against it. Did you inherit that or did you decide to use it? Do you like it?

Thanks, Prettypeonies. I inherited these rock beds, they came with the house. I don't like 'em, but I removed the bigger stones, leaving the smaller ones. They are manageable. I raked them in piles, then enhanced the clay soil with lots and lots of nice, beautiful black garden soil. The small rock seems to help keep voles from digging around much in certain beds. Doesn't seem to hinder the growth of my plants. I guess you can say I've learned to live with it.

Missed this first time around, they look great. I love the form of Moonlight Sonata too it is very distinct and like nearly all my blues stays blue, must be our cool climate and Hudson Bay latitude lol.

I like the look of the Big Mama seedling too, could be huge.

That Big Mama seedling is fully leafed out, too. (Not in this pic, but the leaves stay just like that season-long). Interesting leaves, kinda like a taco platter. Now I'm hungry again : )

Argh I just see you mentioning the voles! I just came in from outside clipping old leaves and noticed that voles have build tunnels under the plants I planted/moved this Friday. Such an nuisance!
