Thank you guys - it was a happy surprise for sure. I called my friend that had fed the cats for me to see if she had added some miracle grow or something while I was gone. lol

i took a close look at your Guardian Angel picture and do see variegation. I am not sure shade is the answer to increasing the contrast though. I had the opposite experience in my garden, with improved contrast and leaf shape (I like the curlier shape on GA) when I moved mine to more sun. Good luck experimenting!

Stephanine, what a beautiful garden. Everything looks so happy. I see varigation in your gaurdian angel, hopefully the varigation comes out more as the season progresses. I planted a gaurdian angel last year and had no varigation in it, I am looking for more varigation in it this year.

Connie, it's leap year for some, Halycon and Abigua Drinking Gourd for sure. I'll have to go back and check my pictures for dates, it may be 3 years for Guardian Angel too. Time passes so quickly now I can't keep up.

Beautiful hostas and I like your companion plants too! Did the Brunnera self seed? I should get one or a few of those, they combine so well with hostas and have cute leaves too. Do you have a bench in front where you can just sit and look at the garden? That's what I would do!

The brunnera hasn't self seeded yet, I got them as liners from Santa Rosa last year and wasn't expecting the rapid growth. Lol

My back porch looks out on the garden so I sit on the porch swing and enjoy it a great deal.
