Need help with dining decor

I need to Refresh my dining space without selling my dining set. I feel The vaulted ceiling pretty much sets the position of furniture, and it makes me crazy since I am a bit OC. I know I have to change the chandelier, paint the walls etc therefore I am open to suggestions about wall color, rug, type of lighting. The space is dining/ living room.
