Rain Garden Grasses

I've read that Panicum 'Shenandoah' is good for a rain garden. Does anyone know why? Or, more importantly, can anyone suggest other grasses [besides sedges and Sea Oats] that would be candidates for a sunny rain garden? I love Miscanthus and Pennisetum varieties, but the switchgrasses don't seem to grow as happily on my place.

Panicums and Calamagrostis both prefer moist to wet sites so would be good candidates for a rain garden. There are certainly other grasses that would enjoy those conditions. A good resource for ornamental grasses is www.bluestem.ca

Andropogon glomeratus likes to grow in moist spots along gullies and tanks here in Texas. I think that a rain garden would suit it. Big Muhley ( Muhlenbergia lindheimeri) will grow in seeps here also.
