Living Room Home Decorating Design Dilemma

repurpose butler tray as an end table, yay or nay?

I have this butler tray coffee table I would like to use but not as a coffee table. How to use? Not sure I like it as an end table but with some appropriate lighting and accessorizing maybe it could work. Ideas?
Recovering from a remodel, pardon the mess!

How about putting it between the two armchairs? Pull them back a bit more. Looks very nice and your rug is beautiful!

agree with Pam....I like the idea of re-purposing very much and it would look great between the chairs...

It looks nice on its own as a side table but the difference in height with your other end table bothers me. I agree with Pam P. that it might work between the two chairs. Or perhaps place the higher end table between the two chairs and find something of similar height to the butler's tray on the other side of the sofa.
