Nice tree. I have not used cotton seed meal and know nothing about it.. I fertilize with Foliage Pro 9-6-3.

I am sure that cotton seed meal was not used where you bought it nor from the grower, but synthetic fertilizer was used instead. Foliage Pro I use too and then there are other good fertilizers that would do a good job.

That tag should have the name of the supplier on it. I would call them if you are really curious to see what they used to make it look so nice like that. Or then, if you got that at a local nursery, you could ask them too)

It almost looks like a Four Winds tree when I use to get mine from them years ago. Nice rich green.

Good luck with it since it is a beauty! I would ask for help here on how to maintain it's vigor as priority than what your question was.

Looks like a rooted cutting to me. Can you see if there is a graft? If it's a grafted tree, it will take a lot more environmental changes if it is.

The plant does indeed have a tag on it. It's from a nursery in California. I will call them and ask them what they used. Great idea. Thanks!
