#1 Bedroom Floorplans using pastel coloring for decor with medium dark wood flooring and a southeast view.
#2 Pendant light on separate dimmable switch I have already purchased to place over the table centered in front of the windows as the room’s focal point. I didn’t want the bed in front of the window and there isn’t room for my king bed anywhere else. It will be an upholstered headboard done in a pastel color or pale greige.
#3 Bedside lights which will be on dimmers located at each bedside.
My question is if we use recessed lighting on the perimeter of the room do I need a light fixture centered in the room also and if so would a drum light such as this surfaced mounted work with what I have already. I know a lot of designers may not be keen on unfrosted lights at the bedside but they will be mounted up high enough I don’t think they’ll bother our eyes as we are older and need more light to see anyway. Also if you have already purchased your light fixtures as I have, will lighting stores help you with proper placement or will they charge a fee? We live in a very rural area an hour away from any lighting retailers so I have done most of my purchasing online. I have seen all these lights in person and although the pictures vary on the metal tones the fixtures do all look the same. The other option we discussed was adding more recessed lights in the middle of the room but I don’t like the idea of my ceiling peppered with lights. I do like a lot of light when I’m using the bedroom for cleaning sock drawers, vacuuming and that type of activity but mostly I’m an avid reader and iPad user. No TV in bedroom either. Hope I’ve given you maybe too much info!
