I can't speak for my plants but I have just about had it with all the rain. It seems like there has been a heavy dark cloud parked over our neighborhood for days and the only variation is whether it is a heavy downpour/deluge or a constant steady rain.

I am going crazy indoors. I have heard of rain dances to ask the Gods/Mother Nature to make it rain. Anyone know of a dance to make it stop?!

Bea is correct, a Brassivola. Sometimes called 'Lady of the Night.' A smaller variety is called 'Little Stars.'

Beautiful perfume in the evening. I have at least six of them and always bring them in on our lanai when blooming. Such a beautiful fragrance!

Thanks for the names! Before the string of rainy/overcast days, it was not blooming. I would wet it once a day. Bea, what situation is yours in that blooms non-stop? Do you fertilize it?

very healthy and nice looking plant. A couple of more notes, all mounted orchids LOOOOVE the rain during growing season. This plant is a specie plant (not a hybrid) and the fragrance is triggered by darkness as the nodosa's pollinator comes out after dark. It can also be triggered anytime by covering the blooming plant and mimicking the night time. Usually within 30 minutes you will start to smell the fragrance. What is mounted on?

It's mounted on whatever it came on 5 or more years ago. I bought it as a small, inexpensive souvenir of some Florida garden I visited. Maybe I should move it into more light, as the "red spots" do not appear that are supposed to form on the leaves to indicate correct light amount (if I understand correctly).
