Tonight I find myself giving thought to types of fruit I might consider growing, I live in western Louisiana on the 8b/9a line in an area that suffers from high heat and humidity in the summers, and often wet weather year round, though we are in our 4th or 5th week with no rain at the moment, with luck that will be changing this week.

I am currently either actively growing, or have planted, but not yet harvested the following:

Thornless Blackberries (5 or 6 varieties)

Blueberries, (11 or 12 varieties, both rabbiteye and southern highbush, as well as a couple of complex hybrids)

Citrus ( 6 varieties of Satsuma Mandarins, as well as a Cara Cara Orange, and a Meyers Lemon)

3 varieties of Asian Pears, as well as some unknown mature european pears

A mix of stone fruit, peaches, plums, pluots, and a couple of other hybrids

Mayhaws (6 random seedlings, planted this spring)

and most recently some pineapple Guava's, and a random (free) seedless grape vine that likely will fail here eventually due to Pierce disease

My overall goal is diversity and extended harvest season so that fresh fruit is often available

What am I missing, what else should I consider growing? My main harvest season gap at the moment is August - September, which I hope the asian pears will fill in when they start producing in another year or two. (maybe July depending on SWD dates) I know I realistically can't expect much from the first hard freeze which wipes out the citrus each year (usually in December or January) until the highbush blueberries ripen in mid to late May.
