That's a pretty intense shade. It vibrates. Normally I would say just hang on and wait until you've got at least two coats dry on there, but in this case I think your gut is correct. Sorry :-/

Looking at the BM site, I would go at least two shades darker than yin yang.

I have a green couch that I wanted a blue room for. I had great success by bringing home all of the green chips that I thought would be a match, tossing them on the couch, and choosing the one that disappeared best (in other words, the best match!). Next I got a fan deck, found that colour in it, and looked at blues that were a few strips away from the green. The way fan decks are arranged, that means those blues have the same level of clarity (by that I mean greyness or lack thereof, don't know the technical term lol) that my couch does. I chose to go one shade lighter than the green in intensity for my blue. It worked brilliantly. If you already own your raspberry sofa, that method might be a good place to start with samples.

Thanks all! I'm getting back over there later today or tomorrow. This is one that surprised me--in the tests it didn't seem bright/vivid at all--had more of a slightly brooding feel, but not too muddy (which is why we opted over the other SW color). Felt like I followed the "right" process above (similar to what Lindsey mentioned) I think I'll look at some of the other suggested colors above too.

beth hall, your color palette is very similar to mine, except my walls are very pale! can you post pictures? I would love to see your room!

I would wait until the floors are done, purchase the rug, and book the painters now. I don't think it is possible to get that shade to do what you envisioned.

The paint dried, I brought over a cushion from our sofa, and I think the color will work nicely after all! Thanks for the input!
