I can't see myself painting the entire upstairs pink, green or lavender. I hate brown, which is how I see the ancient marble and the wool skein. Queen Anne's Lace is yellow so I'll pass on that. I'm looking for a popular neutral. Floor is Johnson Hardwood English Pub Maple Moonshine.

Dark colors are also great for bedrooms, since you spend a lot of time in them in the evenings. Richer colors don’t get washed out by artificial light. And they create luxurious and dramatic looks. Start with a rug with rich deep color, and pull some colors from that for accents yo honeith the dramatic walls.

I think these are way too dark Sophie. They aren't neutral and the rooms are small. It will feel closed in. When I look at pictures of open houses online, I never see colors like this. They are always super light and super neutral.

Thanks to the last two posters, but the painters use Sherwin Williams paints, so it's gotta be SW, not BM. :) Gray Owl is too light, LRV is 67! I might as well not paint my walls at all if I go that light.

Painters will be here in a week tho. :( With a week to go, there's little time. I may have to default to the same color I used on the 1st floor, Light French Gray. It comes off a tad blue, which might at least add a little color.

If I go with Worldly Gray, the rugh design web site suggests these triad colors. I was thinking using the Oyster Bay in the bathroom and Gris Morado as a bedroom accent wall (Exclusive Plum is too dark).

I do like Worldly Gray though. I tried a bunch of the popular colors you read on the blogs like Mindful Gray etc. They were either too dark (like mindful gray and collonade gray) or too light. Worldly Gray is LRV 57 which seems to be perfect. I tried Alpaca and it looked pink.

I used the Sherwin Williams color snap app to take a photo of my floor. Is this what I could use to work out what the best complimentary wall color would be? How do I use this when light affects the perceived color at every point? Is there an app which can give you an aggregate? Blogs out there say what wall color goes best with gray floors based on the undertone it has, blue, green etc. I have no idea what undertone this floor has.
