A lovely excuse to choose two square(ish) pieces of art to dominate that wall. I don't much like the modern commercially available diptyches, so I recommend finding two works by the same artist that work together instead.

There are so many pictures on etsy I don't know where to start lol. This is what the interior designer picked (metal art) but I'm not feeling it.

Here are a couple I liked from Etsy... any thoughts? Honest opinions are most welcome

The black and gold art is not speaking to me BUT, the important thing is that it speaks to YOU. Art is subjective - get what you love.

With a cream rug you're getting yet another generic cream/gray decor that has become such a cliche and is thankfully on its way out. Oriental rugs are considered neutrals and I would choose a large one to tie your furniture together, or possibly two smaller ones, one for the dining area and one for the living room. Whatever you put on the walls should reflect your own personality, not what you or someone else thinks is trendy right now. I would go to ebay and find original art being sold by the artist which makes you feel something. Find pillows that echo some of the colors in the rug and your space will look coordinated and yet full of life. You have a lot of empty wall space and I would fill it with original art. With the nice furniture you have and a beautiful rug, your space will feel original, livable and very inviting. I really like everything you've chosen so far, and now all it needs is a proper frame with a beautiful carpet and gorgeous, very personal art. Please don't settle for what your friends are doing or what's considered cool right now. Allow yourself to have an individual style, which others will also respect and admire.

@ingrid_vc so. CA zone 9 You gave some great advice and I have to admit trends aren't my thing especially the Scandanavian style it's just not me.... I like glam and something to feel a bit sexy. In the past I did trends and color pops but I am finding the colors I have right now very calming so I want to avoid color pops and stick along the line of neutrals. I do like gold accents which is a trend however they are accents so I can switch them up much easier than say a sofa or counters. I have never been a fan of oriental rugs but I think I need to try something different so will find one I can try that is returnable if I don't like it. Thanks again for the input and advice!

Current thoughts on silvery pieces for your wall?

I want to avoid accent colors in the rug just so I can change up smaller colored accent decor without having to change the rug but the curtains are great! I wasn't sure about doing a pleated classic or a sheer.... custom made are over $2k so would sooner get ready made.

@everdebz I would like to incorporate some gold pieces as well but I haven't came across anything too exciting yet worth bringing home to try.

Might the curtains be the right size... if so, amazing.

Sorry for the radio silence... I have been a busy gal! So after trying and returning several things I found a few I think are keepers.... My favorite being the designers guild cushion on the sofa! Other big items are the mirror (used so non returnable) and nesting tables. I am also thinking of buying the Leftbank Art White Heron III picture (71" x 52") with the gold frame to put on wall facing entry. Any thoughts? And @everdebz I was thinking of metal dis wall art in silver for above the sofa so am happy to see you had some on your post! Some pics are befores and the bare wall I want to put the Heron pic on....

My Samsung 7 takes below average photos... The mirror seems a bit high but my neighbor hung it with my husband and I'm scared to see what they did to the wall behind because lowering or moving it isn't an option lol.

They did a good job, and from here, seems ok/ centered between upper and lower.... hey, "here's a cookie!"

I looked at your June 7 kit./dining photo and better noticed metal dining legs - wow! I see several lines in cabs, legs, counter.... your wonderfully elegant bird would seem a very fitting greeter - of sorts ;-)

Would it be dark enough in entry to need an upper light?

Are you ok with the size of wall, and size of piece?

If like me, you'll hold it/ prop it on other entry wall [where you'd see it from sofa].... and idk but behind sofa? how wide is it again?

The picture is 51" wide. There is actually a pot light centered above that wall so I think it will work. Sad part is it takes 8-10 weeks to get the picture or they will sell me floor model which has a small bit of damage for $1298...NO DISCOUNT UGH. I hate waiting but I also hate paying full price for a slightly damaged item. I thought of putting it on wall by door however I would be paranoid of people scratching it if they brush against it while putting shoes on. I have been looking for a similar type piece of art with black background and gold frame but they all have ladies on them and my husband is not a fan.

Good idea to keep away from heavy traffic. Idk why they won't discount if at all damaged - no sense, customer service where? Esp. if lighting isn't grazing it from a wall light, but from a ? foot or two away in ceiling: try the damaged?
