Those blinds being all the way down do not help making it an inviting room.

Anglophilia - having the blinds up or down isn't really a design/decorating feature. Perhaps the photo was taken in the afternoon when the sun was blasting in.

I also think you need to add a few larger pillows and place one in each corner of the couches, then stack the pillows rather than have them all lined up. Also a beautiful cream color throw would look good folder over the end of the right side sofa and are you considering floor lamps for light in the room, end tables? Here's a link to the type pillow I suggested. Large pillows

do I need to add any drapes??
I like the idea of drapes in the living room as the other poster suggested. Also what about a cool bench ottoman or two squares in a fun color to further separate the space from the dining area?

I prefer the light solid color for you living room windows, looking at the pictures the light solid makes the arch window stand out so more and it looks beautiful.

Minu, I took a look at your ideabooks. You like color!

Ohhhhhhh boy, but room looks dull and gloomy. I added some happy colors. Hope you like it.

I love your house. You have done a wonderful job. You've received great advice. I think you need a little more color - you have two dominant colors- you could use a nice third accent and mage something with a pattern in the mix. Curtains, more sofa pillows, a great plant and some nice coffee table books are all things you may consider adding. You have a fantastic base here- you just need some finishing touches. Brava.

celerygirl what colour drapes should I have in formal dining ??

Love the dining room, very nice design choices. I agree with changing the chandler over the table. You have a very modern look and the light is very traditional. Something with a more modern twist and a little more drama would be great.

Minu, you've done a nice job here, but it's a little too static; it needs additional small doses of a single accent color. I would also do curtains in the dining area only. The living area windows have a kind of sculptural effect that you'll lose with curtains there.

The addition of a a few spots of another color will add just enough spark to the room to take it to the next level. Here are some possibilities:

It looks like you need some window treatments and a chandelier in the dining room, along with some added colors in each room. Here are a few of ours designs that might help:

I think your rooms look fantastic as they are. Personally I'm not a fan of curtains. Athough they do add a 'warm/inviting touch' to the space - they are cumbersome and require regular maintenance/cleaning.

    My suggestion:

Keep the teal pillows, get rid of the gray ones. Add a few 'oversized' ornate pillows in colors silver and deep magenta. Don't line them up...too stuffy!

Add a silver side table (between your couch and dinning room) to match/compliment the mirror in your dinning room. Put a decorative item on that table in the colors magenta and silver!

Change the chandelier in your dinning room to something like below pictures. Might also want to hang it lower (closer to the dinning table, without obstructing the dinners views of one another).
