Fertilizer Information

My pepper plants just don't look good. They're not dark enough green. So today my mission was to do some research on what could cause that and what the fix is. I found this extremely helpful website that is worth sharing:

http://www.vegetablegardener.com/item/3796/fertilizing-its-mainly-about-nitrogen/page/all

My soil analysis that I had done this spring showed that my garden is only deficient in nitrogen. So I decided to produce my own nitrogen. (Ask me if you need to but I think you can figure it out) I store extra cistern water in 2.5 gallon kitty litter jugs and even though it is more dilution than recommended, I decided to add only 8 oz of.... ummmmm.... natural nitrogen.... per kitty litter jug of water. Since it is a weak dilution, I decided to add 1 Tbsp of epsom salt to the jug, as well.

Still carving out a spot in the garden each morning and pulling weeds and grasses till it gets warm enough that it makes the sweat drip off my face, and then I know it's time to quit. Lately that's been about 11:30am. I don't like leaving the ground bare so unless it's Bermuda grass I just throw it down on top of the ground after it's been pulled. The Bermuda grass goes to the burn barrel.

I caught a clip from Cher Bono's latest performance where she told the audience that she is 71 and then asked "What's YOUR Grammy doing tonight??" Well, Cher, I can't speak for ALL 71-year-old Grammy's, but this one is in bed by that time of the night, getting a good rest so she can go out into the garden and work as soon as it's daylight. I'm wearin' more clothes, too.
