Help?! What did I buy?

Do you guys and gals know what this is? I usually write it down but I don’t see it in my notes. Low water, less than a foot high, likely bought at Paulinos, flowering now... One of them died and I need to figure out how to replace it. Thank you!

They look like some kind of penstemons to me but I am not sure which kind.

Try salvia azurea, blue sage. But not sure which variety. Looks small and compact.

Might be Penstemon linaioides or a cross of it since it has no basal leaves. It is for sure a penstemon.

Googled that penstemon and we are either there or getting darn close with

penstemon linarioodes coloradoensis.

Right size, flowers, color.... So once you know it’s a penstemon how do you narrow down which one? With so many penstemons google wasn’t helping me much. Is there a site or book or...? And next time I could just write it down :/

The leaves look more like the sage to me

um, plants are identified (at least quickly by family and genus) by THEIR FLOWERS. The salvia link you added is worthless since the flowers of these two plants are not even remotely similar.

Jenna, I see that now. The flowers have similar color blue with white center but different shape. Feel free to take a stab at an identification.
