Hallo Claudia, siehst du die Thujenhecke auf dem ersten Bild rechts? Da schiebe ich die Töpfe einfach drunter oder stell sie auf eine Seite des Hauses wo sie im Schatten und vom Wetter geschützt sind. Hier in Deutschland ist das absolut ausreichend.

Hm! Das ist eine gute Info. ICh lebe jetzt in Michigan und meristens ist der Winter hier vergleichbar mit Stuttgart. Der Mann bei dem iCh gestern Hostas gekauft habe, hat sage die in den Toefen muessen in der Garage ueberwintert werden, Mein Mann waere nicht gluecklich wenn iCh soviel Platz wegnehmen wuerde. ICh werde es so versuchen das so wie du das machst!

Wo in Deutschland kaufst du deine Hostas? In einer speziellen Gaertnerei? Damals las iCh Dort gelebt habe, hatten wir keinen Garten und iCh habe mich auch hier erst spaet mit Gartenarbeit befreunden koennen :-) In Deutschland kenne iCh nur den OBI und Bauhaus :-)))

Claudia, ich kaufe bei verschiedenen Gärtnereien in Deutschland, Österreich und Holland, aber die besten bekomme ich von einem Freund aus Belgien, den ich bei fb kennengelernt habe. Er ist seit vielen Jahren Sammler von seltenen Sorten und so bekomme ich viele Hosta, die ich eigentlich vorher gar nicht gekannt habe. Bei Obi oder so kaufe ich lieber nicht, ich habe zu viel Angst vor HVX. Die Sammlung ist inzwischen sehr wertvoll und ich möchte mir keine Probleme einkaufen. Ich hatte früher Verwandtschaft in Michigan, da gibt es doch immer sehr viel Schnee, oder nicht? Da musst du aufpassen, wenn Schnee auf gefrorenen Töpfen auftaut, darf kein Wasser darauf stehen bleiben, dann musst du die Töpfe auf die Seite kippen.

Jo, yes, your German is still good! Das ist richtig! You will have no problems when you come to visit Germany :-) I had the best vacation ever! It is good to work in the garden after all that sitting in the office and I feel much better now. My hands and feet are so dirty from being outside and digging in the dirt that I'm not able to clean them:-) Nails are short and skin is rough, but soul and heart are refreshed...This little chance was a spontaneous idea as always...

Thank you, Donna! I really like to rearrange the pots from time to time to find new colour combinations or leaves that match better than others. I never would have thought to find such a great variety of plants when I started collecting. I'm quite sure I would not have gone this crazy with other plants...

Love Glacier and Chute the Chute the shoot. Glacier reminds me of Ben Vernooj and First Frost--but they have wider outside margins. Your place looks so lovely. Wish I could say something in German, but I only know a couple of words.

miles, I also have First Frost and comparing both I can not find a big difference between those two. I thought about asking Jeroen to sell me a Glacier OS because it makes me wonder...

What I would like to know is how you manage to take such phenomenal pictures. Not a single speck, leaf or stone out of place. Just magnificent!

the best thing about hosta is that they cover everything ugly with their big leaves and that you do not need to care for weeds anymore. So it is easy to take good pictures :-) Sometimes there is a spot I do not like,ok, just take a pot with hosta and the problem is solved...
