Thanks in advance for any advice!

The time has come to choose the paint for my new kitchen cabinetry. The kitchen will be a traditional style, soft white in colour. There will be a big mantle built above the black oven, all doors are a simple shaker pattern.

I always imagined that the finish would be relatively flat, as most pictures I have liked of traditional kitchens on this site don't appear to have much of a sheen, if at all.

My designer has recommended semi gloss due to durability, but I am very concerned that it add a modern element which I don't want. I have been told that a satin finish will show finger prints etc.

Who has gone for satin finish (30%) and who has cabinets in semi gloss (60%)? Any advice or insight would be greatly appreciated!
