Will this meyer lemon recover?

I inherited a meyer lemon tree from my mom who lives in the high desert. I' i noNothern California so she thought it would do better with me. However, it was in bad shape. She gave it to me still potted in the black pot and I think she was overwatering it because when I went to transplant it it looked like root rot. All the roots basically fell off. However this is a picture after about 1 month after transplanting. No new growth but it' n dead. Do you think it will recover and if so, how long will it take? Any tips to help it?

Try some mulch, but not over the trunk collar. No fertilizer until you see some growth. Water it regularly and see what happens. It has been extremely drought-stressed. Try putting in a protected area so it is not so exposed to the sun. Good luck.

Try asking over in the citrus section, I only grow citrus in ground so can't help much with this one, though I can tell you Meyers is sensitive to growing conditions, soil mix, etc, as well as sensitive to changes in how much light it gets. If you have not done so google: citrus 511 soil mix.
