What's going on with all of these studs?

Hi, we've been working with a few different contractors in order to open up this doorway. We knew it was load bearing but were assured that opening it up another 3ft wouldn't be a problem.

What's going on in this picture? there are 8 studs so close together.

The licensed contractor you have selected should be able to explain it completely for you. Your picture isn't good enough for any of us online to take a wild guess unfortunately.

Don't remove anything at this point.

Who assured you that you could open up a bearing wall another 3 feet? Engineer? Architect? Contractor? What is that person/company saying now?

Are you working with an actual licensed contractor?

Those "8 studs so close together" are acting as a post and holding up a considerable part of your house. Period. Stop. And then see Denita's post above...............

Thanks everyone! Our contractor said that we could open it prior to us removing the drywall. We removed it ourselves and once I saw all of the studs I figured we wouldn’t be able to remove it. Thank you for responding
