Double vs. Single Strength

Just want to check on something in a quote I received. Only 5 of the openings that I'm replacing have double strength glass listed. The other 13 have single strength. Is that pretty normal? When I asked the contractor, they said the computer populates single or double based on the size of the window. Should I be asking for all double strength?

We have kids, but I don't think I've ever seen someone break a window in my 32 years of life. Obviously it can happen, but seems pretty rare.

“Double Strength” means the glass is 3.2 mm thick instead of the 2.5 mm “Single Strength” thickness like you might use in a picture frame. Should be no issue being based on the size of the window.

That is normal with some companies, others may do all double strength with all windows. It is typically a small upcharge.

+1. Not usually much of an upcharge and I like it for the sound attenuation benefit as well.
